Modular construction

 

The primary construction material used in the manufacturing of our drying kilns is aluminum. The profiles used to build the lightweight yet highly rigid supporting frame are made of aluminum alloy grade 6060T66. When structural requirements call for the use of steel components, we employ stainless steel grade 1.4301.

 

Only external elements that are not exposed to the kiln’s aggressive internal climate are made of standard structural steel. The outer walls of the chamber consist of specially formed 1 mm thick aluminum sheets filled with Rockwool mineral wool. The external cladding is made of trapezoidal aluminum sheeting.

Drying kiln control system

Drawing on many years of experience, LE.KO has developed its own proprietary control system for wood drying kilns. It is designed for use in kilns heated by heat exchangers as well as those using gas or oil burners.

System description

 

The system is designed to control the operation of wood drying kilns heated either by heat exchangers or by gas or oil burners. Supervision of the system can be carried out locally using an operator panel or remotely via an Ethernet network (computer, tablet, or smartphone).

To improve energy efficiency, fan operation is controlled by a frequency inverter – as the wood’s moisture content decreases, the fan speed is gradually reduced.

 

The use of an innovative wood moisture sensor allows for an almost unlimited number of measuring probes, with the number of measurements depending primarily on the size of the kiln chamber.

 

The data logging option enables the recording of process parameters in the memory of the operator panel, allowing the user to generate reports on phytosanitary treatment.

 

The traditional psychrometric measurement method has been replaced by a maintenance-free air humidity sensor, significantly increasing the reliability of measurements. This process parameter can also be monitored at multiple points, depending on the size of the chamber.

Modern automation also means savings – the system independently adjusts operating parameters to changing conditions, minimizing energy consumption and reducing drying time. As a result, the user benefits not only from greater precision but also from tangible economic and environmental advantages.
